Six cars today with at least two non-functional brake lights. I was only able to alert three of them .
Merry Christmas everyone. Please be careful out there, and please take the time while traveling to give someone a hand, of any kind . ‘Tis the season.

On my drive home from my in-laws I saw an example of drls being too bright. Followed a car for almost 5 miles that hadn’t turned his lights on.
It was very dark out and not a single car coming the other way flashed them. I tried to get their attention from behind with no luck.
It looked like a pretty new Mitsubishi CUV which tells me they probably accidentally took the lights out of auto and didn’t even know.

Incredibly frustrating when you see something dangerous and can’t get their attention.
I continue to blame automakers for drivers who either have DRLs or no headlights at all at night. They’ve completely dropped the ball: it’s trivial for the car to sense that it’s dark at night, and either the car should be screaming at you or turning them on for you, not lighting the dash to make it even less obvious.

I’ve never understood it. If you insist on designing it so automatic lights can be defeated then the drl should light the rear lights too. Give people a chance to see they’re there.
Thankfully I initially got behind them in town where there were street lights, and it was a white car. Less than a mile later we were on a rural state route. A black car like that on an overcast night could’ve been a disaster.
Then they didn’t use a turn signal before slamming on the brakes to pull into a driveway either.

At least you aren’t dealing with all the assholes who don’t turn on their headlights period .
I live on a side street deep in suburbia with very little traffic. Three cars I have seen go by tonight without headlights. Out of five. And we have a ton of pets and kids on the street.

Hell, one of the cars tonight with just one brake light also had no headlights.

Fou nd myself behind someone driving around in the dark DRLs-only, just the other day. Flashing my high-beams got their attention, but they didn’t get the message until I turned my headlamps OFF.
